The Invisible Bridge

Netherlands

Architecture

The Invisible Bridge by RO & AD of the Netherlands and Belgium is a sunken walkway that sits at water level providing access to Forte de Roovere, a 17th Century Dutch fortress. The bridge’s point of differentiation is in fact a design solution in itself: from a distance, the bridge has almost no visual impact on the landscape. From a distance, the Moses Bridge appears to vanish, allowing the viewer to see the flow of the moat uninterrupted. The bridge is constructed from Accoya wood, which is both FSC and PEFC certified.
